Welcome to CanArts, the 5th Canarian International Arts Meeting 2027
On 2, 3 and 4 July 2027, Candelaria, Tenerife, will host the fifth CanArts International Meeting: a space for dialogue between artistic creation, research and education from an interdisciplinary perspective.
CanArts brings together creators, researchers and educators to share projects, experiences and knowledge about music and its connections with other arts and sciences, fostering exchange between the Canary Islands and the international community.
Hybrid format: in person and online. Participation is free for both speakers and audience members.
Call for proposals open. Speaker registration and proposal submission close on 14 February 2027.
Speaker registration and proposal submission are separate steps. All listed authors must register individually in accordance with the relevant call.
What is CanArts?
CanArts is an international meeting focused on contemporary artistic creation in the 20th and 21st centuries, connecting creative practice with artistic and educational research.
It is aimed at creators working in music, the arts and the sciences; researchers in these fields; and educators and teachers of music and other artistic disciplines.
All participation proposals must be interdisciplinary and explore the connections between music and other arts, sciences or areas of knowledge.
The meeting seeks to foster interdisciplinary creation, share research and educational experiences, and contribute to understanding and disseminating the contemporary artistic heritage of the Canary Islands and beyond.
Who is it for?
CanArts offers two ways to participate: as a speaker, presenting work and projects in the formats set out in each call, or as an audience member, attending the meeting’s activities.
Creators
Creators working in music, the arts and the sciences who wish to share their projects, creative processes, artistic languages and compositional techniques from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Researchers and educators
Professionals, researchers and educators who wish to present studies, projects or educational experiences related to contemporary artistic creation and the connections between music, the arts and the sciences.
Emerging creators and researchers
Creators and researchers at the start of their careers who want to share their work, exchange ideas and build connections with other professionals. This call includes the presentation formats set out in its guidelines, including posters for researchers.
Audience members
Students, professionals and anyone interested in music, the arts and the sciences who wishes to attend, learn and take part in the meeting’s discussions.
An interdisciplinary experience
CanArts offers a meeting place to explore:
- The connections between music, other arts and the sciences.
- Exchange between artistic creation, research and education.
- Knowledge and dissemination of contemporary artistic heritage from the Canary Islands and beyond.
- Collaboration and cultural links between regions and countries.
Through presentations, talks and opportunities for exchange, the meeting encourages dialogue among artists, researchers, educators and the public, opening up new possibilities for creation and shared projects.
CanArts continues beyond the meeting through academic publications and audiovisual content on the CanArts YouTube channel. These initiatives help share knowledge and disseminate the research, educational experiences and artistic proposals associated with the project.
