Samuel Ramos Manzano (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1981) is a composer and cultural manager with proven experience in organizing classical and contemporary music festivals in both public and private sectors, as well as in the design and implementation of cultural projects. He studied Composition with Michael Jarrell at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and Piano at the Professional Conservatory of Music of Las Palmas, furthering his musical training with various composers such as Jorge Sánchez-Chiong, Reinhard Fuchs, Agustí Charles Soler, Fabien Lévy, and Bernhard Lang. He also holds a Degree in History and a Master’s Degree in Management and Administration of Cultural and Creative Industries.
For almost two decades, he has worked as a freelance composer, focusing a large part of his work on the study of the phenomenon of perception, the interest in the transformation of the semantic connotations of sonic objects in different contexts, and the observation and analysis of temporality and kinetics. His music is the result of collaborations with numerous soloists and instrumental ensembles such as Ensemble Platypus, Robert Gillinger, Ángel Soria (SIGMA Project), Gregor Narnhoffer, Lorenzo Derini, and Myriam García Fidalgo (Ensemble Schallfeld) or ensemble N. His premieres and performances have taken place in Konzerthaus and Volkstheater (Vienna), Teatro Guiniguada, Espacio La Granja, the Echoraum hall, or the Cervantes Institute in Vienna, participating in festivals such as Im Loth (Austria) or the XLII Spring Music Week of the city of Córdoba.
For almost ten years, he has taught at various institutions such as the BFI University of Applied Sciences in Vienna or the Cervantes Institute.
In the field of cultural management, he is a co-founder of Suena Festival für zeitgenössische iberoamerikanische Musik (Vienna), where he served as artistic director for two years and co-director until February 2026. In 2023, he joined the team of the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands, taking over the artistic direction in February 2026.
