Emiliano Guillén

Educational Psychologist and Journalist. Official chronicler of the municipalities of Granadilla de Abona and Villa de Arico in Tenerife.

Born in Granadilla de Abona (Chimiche), in 1946.

National Teacher. Holds diplomas in Educational Psychology and Educational Sciences. Educational Psychologist. Journalist. Master’s degree in Environmental Management.

He is the official chronicler of the municipalities of Granadilla de Abona and Villa de Arico.

He is also a member of several cultural institutions, including I.E.Can. and R.S.E.A.P. (…).

Throughout his cultural career—alongside his work in education—he has devoted much of his life to research and original literary production.

Some of his works are closely tied to literary surrealism, such as Orvalho and Las sandalias de Estrabón (…).

Between solo and collaborative works, his published books already exceed more than fifty titles.

He has collaborated with radio, press, television, and magazines, and has participated in round tables and conferences.

He is also known as a “mantenedor de fiestas” (a traditional figure who presides over cultural or festive events).

Several of his literary compositions have been set to music by both classical and folk music groups.

He has taken part in the production of documentaries for local, national, and international television channels, focusing on the unique characteristics of the Canary Islands.

For thirteen years (2008–2021), he was a regular contributor to the supplement of La Prensa – El Día, publishing several hundred articles related to the Canary Islands, Spain, Portugal, and other regions of Europe and Africa.

His work continues. He currently has two new books in press—one focused on research, the other an original literary work—both scheduled for release in May of this year.
