Pilar Barrios Manzano, PhD in Art History and Professor of Advanced Studies in Solfège, Music Theory, Transposition, and Accompaniment, is a Full Professor in the area of Music Education (Didáctica de la Expresión Musical), within the Department of Music, Visual and Physical Expression Education at the Faculty of Teacher Training, University of Extremadura, in Cáceres.
She coordinates the areas of Music and Music Education, the research group “MUSAEXI. Musical Heritage, Culture and Education,” and the Teaching Innovation Group “Artistic Heritage, Education and Intercultural Dialogues from Extremadura.”
Her main lines of research include: musical heritage in Extremadura and cultural exchanges with Latin American countries; Extremadura as a meeting point between local and global cultures; interdisciplinarity and interculturality in artistic expressions.
She has led and participated in various regional, national, and international research projects, contributing numerous publications of great value to the study of musical heritage in both local settings and diverse social and cultural contexts.
Since 2004, she has been developing the digital platform Patrimonio musical extremeño.
