Manuel González Pestano
Councilor for Culture at the Excellency Candelaria City Council.
Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, he began his clarinet studies at the Nueva Banda de Igueste de Candelaria and continued at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he obtained his degree as a Senior Clarinet Teacher and also pursued composition studies.
His education continued with higher-level courses, including the Pedagogical Aptitude Course, University Expert in Methods and Resources for Music Education, and the Advanced Studies Diploma from the University of La Laguna. This education has contributed to his work as a career teacher for the Department of Education of the Canary Islands Government, a teacher for the High Capacities PREMUN program from the same department, and a support teacher in the music area at the La Laguna Educational Support Center (CEP), as well as his participation as a speaker in teacher training courses for the department.
His interests have led him to the field of cultural management, specifically to his role as Councilor for Culture at the Excellency Candelaria City Council since 2015. He was also part of the executive team of the Association of Composers and Musicologists of Tenerife (COSIMTE) and is a member of the International Society for Music Education (ISME), the Canary Islands Music Association (ASCAM), and the Academy of Arts and Sciences of Music.
