Emilio Coello Cabrera

Born in Charco del Pino, Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife, he began his clarinet studies at the “Las Candelas” Municipal Band of the Villa de Candelaria and continued at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid, where he also studied piano, orchestral and choral conducting, harmony, counterpoint and fugue, composition, and orchestration, graduating with the highest honors.

His extensive catalog of compositions has gained national and international recognition.

His works have been performed in countries such as Yugoslavia, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Romania, the United States, Venezuela, Brazil, and more, under the baton of renowned conductors and ensembles such as the Hungarian Chamber Symphony, the Mannes University Orchestra, the San Antonio Chamber Orchestra (Texas), the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, the Córdoba Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Venezuela, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, the Canary Islands Higher Conservatory Orchestra, the Madrid Community Symphony Orchestra, the Canary Islands Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Acheus Ensemble from Romania, among others.

The recognition of his compositional quality is also supported by international critical acclaim, various national awards he has received throughout his career, as well as his membership in the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts.

His career is documented in a monograph, Music and Cultural Tradition in the Work of Emilio Coello, published by Ediciones Tamaimos in 2019, and other articles by scholars who have focused on his work.

As an educator, he has been a Professor of Harmony, Composition, and Orchestration in the New Technologies classroom at the Municipal Music School of Alcobendas, Madrid, since 1987. Additionally, he has offered courses and seminars at conservatories, auditoriums, and universities throughout Spain.
