Díaz Yerro holds a cum laude degree in Composition from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Austria), where he was awarded a scholarship from the Alban Berg Foundation, and a cum laude PhD from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
He has composed operas (Negrín), ballets (La confesión, Matahari), as well as symphonic, chamber and choral music, pieces for big band and for soloists. His works have been premiered and performed in numerous countries.
He has also composed and produced music for animated series (Cuquin, Cleo & Cuquin, Pocoyo, Lea & Pop, Boomons, etc., broadcast by HBO/Warner, Netflix, Prime Video, Nick Jr. USA, Clan TVE, Televisa, Discovery Kids, among others), feature films, documentaries (such as the series Real Madrid: How Could I Not Love You, available on Prime Video and Movistar+), video games, musicals, and for more than fifty television commercials (Peugeot, Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s, McDonald’s, etc.).
He has conducted orchestral, choral, ensemble and big band projects in Spain, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
Gonzalo Díaz Yerro is Professor of Composition at the Higher Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands (Gran Canaria campus).
